New Year, New Equipment: Tips for a First-Time Renter

January 17, 2020

Renting heavy machinery is convenient and cost-efficient when starting a new construction project. However, there are many factors to consider prior to getting started. It is important to keep in mind that every machine, tool and equipment device you use is constructed differently, so if you are new to renting, it is best to have a thorough understanding of what you are doing with a few useful tips.

EDGE1 is a dedicated equipment rental provider that strives on building customer service excellence. Our time and consideration go towards ensuring you are comfortable operating any machine you rent. Ask yourself: what kind of job am I working on and what is required to get it done? From there, you’ll be able to get the right equipment. Follow these tips for a successful first-time renting experience.

  1. How do you know what machine to rent?

EDGE1 supplies a variety of machines and tools by reputable brands such as, JLG, Wacker Neuson, Genie and more. With all these available to you it is important you choose the exact machine needed to complete the job. Are you working on a commercial or residential property? Our experts are highly qualified and can assist with size, weight and more.

  1. Plan for your rental

Consider that a larger job may require using a machine for a longer period. Avoid last minute renting as the machine you’ll need may not be available, delaying your own job from getting done. Account for poor weather and the unexpected to occur so you’re prepared in case something doesn’t go as planned. This is not to say that there will be issues when renting, however, if a machine is delivered to your site and suddenly needs repairs then its always good to rent from a company that can service or replace your rental quickly and get your job back on track. EDGE1 provides exceptional services on our products and is a certified warranty centre.

  1. Follow up with additional services/fees

Be in contact with the renting company and go through everything on the contract of your rental agreement. A more affordable machine can cost you more if there are hidden fees. Older equipment may be cheaper to rent, but less reliable and take longer to complete your project. In addition, there could be additional fees included for maintenance and repair services.

  1. How do you use the machine?

So, you went through all the steps of renting a machine for your demolition project and you have no idea how to use it? Luckily, EDGE1 offers  Ontario Ministry of Labour-approved safety training sessions that teach you how to safely operate the type of machine you need.

If this is your first time renting any type of machine, don’t stress. Everyone has to start somewhere and EDGE1 is happy to get you where you need to go. Start your next job with EDGE1 Equipment Rentals and call today at  1.800.216.6663.
